Maryland native and Terp commit Jalen Smith has had a day. Shortly after being named the Gatorade State Boys Basketball Player of the year, Smith was named to the roster for the Jordan Brand Classic, one of the most watched all-star games for high school talent. Last season, his former Mount St. Joseph teammate Darryl Morsell also participated in the event. While it wasn’t the national game, it was a step closer to having some form of Maryland representation.

The Terrapins are getting their first five-star recruit since shooting guard Mike Jones from the 2003-2004 season, so this is a pretty big deal for the Mark Turgeon era. Smith, nicknamed “Stix” will continue his career in College Park, joining Aaron Wiggins and Eric Ayala. Check out Smith’s highlights below.
