Oklahoma guard and freshman sensation Trae Young announced this morning that he will enter the NBA Draft, according to his Twitter account. He will leave only having played one season in college.
I will enter the June NBA Draft!!
— Trae Young (@TheTraeYoung) March 20, 2018
The Sooners were eliminated in the first round of the tournament, but Young will enter the draft as the first player in Division I history to lead the nation in both points and assists. He averaged 27.4 ppg and 8.7 assists per game.
Young and Oklahoma are a special case, because even though Oklahoma lost their last 8-of-10 games, and didn’t make it to the Big 12 championship game, they still made the tournament. Projected a lottery pick, Young made the tournament, unlike Ben Simmons when he was with LSU and Markelle Fultz when he was with Washington who were the no. 1 overall picks in their classes.
